The Project We, the six million
We, the Six Million is an international educational initiative dedicated to Holocaust education, remembrance, and the fight against antisemitism through education, dialogue, and personal encounters.

The project was launched in Germany in 2018 and expanded its international activities to Israel in late 2021. Since then, We, the Six Million has developed into a unique educational network connecting schools, museums, memorial institutions, educators, and researchers in Germany and Israel. By creating lasting partnerships and encouraging dialogue between young people, the project builds educational bridges based on shared history, mutual respect, and democratic values.
As fewer Holocaust survivors are able to share their experiences firsthand, preserving their stories has become more important than ever. Through personal biographies, historical research, and educational programs, We, the Six Million helps students understand the human impact of the Holocaust and the importance of remembering the past to shape a better future.

Following the terrorist attacks of 7 October 2023 and the alarming rise in antisemitism worldwide, the mission of the project has become even more relevant. We believe that education is one of the most powerful tools to combat antisemitism, challenge prejudice, and strengthen democratic values. Personal encounters between students and teachers from different countries foster understanding, encourage dialogue, and help build long-lasting friendships.
Today, We, the Six Million reaches thousands of students and educators every year through exhibitions, educational programs, and international school partnerships. Together with our partners, we are committed to ensuring that the memory of the Holocaust remains a living responsibility for future generations.

Our work is built on two main pillars:
Exhibition – A travelling exhibition presenting the personal stories of Jewish victims and survivors of the Holocaust, creating opportunities for learning, reflection, and dialogue in schools and public institutions.
School Partnerships between Israel and North Rhine-Westfalia – Long-term educational partnerships between schools in North Rhine-Westphalia and Israel, promoting digital exchange, joint educational projects, and personal encounters between students and teachers.
Together, these initiatives inspire young people to stand against antisemitism, racism, and all forms of hatred while building meaningful connections across borders.
